Times-Colonist 10K 2005
Monday, April 25th, 2005Excerpt from http://www.timescolonist10k.com/
"The 16th annual Times Colonist 10K race was run in glorious weather in Victoria on Sunday, April 24th 2005. Vancouver Island’s top international athletes were joined by twelve thousand people in what is now the second largest run in Canada, behind the Vancouver Sun Run. The ribbon of humanity snaked through the streets of Victoria, from the start line between Government and Douglas streets out onto picturesque Dallas Road and back to the finish line in front of the grand Empress Hotel."
I was one of the twelve thousand that walked the TC 10K last April 24th 2005. This was my first ever 10k. I was thinking of mixing run and walk. But when I saw the mass of humanity and the length of 10k I decided that I was not going to do so. I will just walk thank you.
I think I did a good time even if I walked. I walked for a total of 101:16. I was the 7800 th person to finish. Not bad for a rookie walker. I think I was the last person from our team to finish. They will post the results on their website.
Overall it was a good race. I got to see parts of Victoria that I have not really seen. The volunteers where all supportive and they were cheering everyone on. The first few kilometres where a breeze. And after the 5th km marker, each km became harder and harder. Up hills were getting harder and harder.
The after race was also good. There were free stuff from Island Farms and Thrifthy’s . Fruits, Cookies, yogurt, milk and juice.
Today, the Monday after the race. My whole body is in pain! Oh Pain. My back hurts. My feet hurt. And Everything in between. Argh!
I hope to join this again next year! Looking forward to beat my time.
