Pork Sisig

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

In August 2004 my nieces and nephew went back to the Philippines with their parents. Its been their first time back since they left for Canada. They migrated to Canada when my nieces and nephew where still young.

One evening they went out to eat dinner at a restaurant and they ordered pork sisig. I asked them if they liked it and they said that they did like it. I asked them if they will eat it again and they said yes.

Then the big question. I asked them if they knew what was in it.  And they did now know what was in it. I did not want to tell them but they did not stop asking me what was in it. So I answered them that it had pork ears, cheeks and stuff like that and they immediately said yuck. And when I asked them again if they will eat it again, now they said no. NO WAY!

Now, here is my question. Why is that? Why is it when even if they like it when they learn what is in it they suddenly change their minds?  It still taste the same, they just know what is in it and now they don’t like it.

This is same in my office. When lunch time comes, I heat up my food. Then I go back to my desk and they smell the food. They say that is smells yummy. Then they ask what it is. Then I say it is chicken liver they say yuck.

Why is it when you know what is in it you won’t try it? You might be missing a part of your life? Just try it.
